Let the Park Sing Again!
Over 52 bird species have been recorded at MG Park, Manikonda a true urban haven for nature.
But in the last two years, frequent religious and social events have disturbed this delicate ecosystem. Many birds have left in search of quieter habitats.
It’s time we listen. It’s time we act.
Let’s be the voice of the voiceless. Let’s reclaim MG Park as a true natural sanctuary.
Silence is not emptiness, it’s life waiting to return.

Shikra Nest
Visitors and Walkers might have noticed the sharp, distinctive calls echoing from Mahatma Gandhi Park in recent days. It’s a joy to share that a Shikra, a small but powerful bird of prey, has chosen our park to build its nest, Shikra typically builds a small nest made of sticks, often in the high fork of a woodland tree.
Even more delightful juvenile Shikras have been spotted, marking a successful breeding season. In India, Shikras typically breed from March to June, making this a special time for nature lovers in our community.
Let’s protect and cherish the biodiversity of our park so wonderful birds like the Shikra continue to thrive in our midst.

I Black Kite & Black-winged Kite
Black Kite (Milvus migrans)
A medium-sized raptor, the Black Kite thrives in urban and semi-urban environments. It is highly adaptable, feeding on carrion, small mammals, reptiles, and even food waste. Its presence indicates a balanced food web with enough prey and scavenging opportunities.
Black-winged Kite (Elanus caeruleus)
This elegant raptor prefers open habitats like grasslands, farmlands, and scrub areas. It primarily hunts rodents, small birds, and insects, relying on keen eyesight and silent flight.

Sustainability in Action at MG Park 🌱
MG Park is nurturing nature the natural way!
- A Composting Corner recycles dry leaves into rich mulch, feeding the soil and reducing waste.
- Fallen seeds and small saplings are carefully protected and replanted in open areas, promoting greenery without the need to buy new plants.
These small, mindful practices help preserve the park’s ecosystem while setting a model for eco-friendly urban spaces.
Grow green, the sustainable way. 🌿
